I am very happy to introduce The Hijrah Activity Book, created especially for children ages 8 to 12.

The Hijrah is one of the most important and inspiring journeys in Islamic history. It is the story of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the early Muslims leaving Makkah and travelling towards a new life in Madinah. But it is also much more than a journey from one city to another. It is a story of faith under pressure, careful planning, courage, sacrifice, friendship, patience, and complete trust in Allah.

Children are guided through the story by short, accessible texts. Each section introduces an important event, person, place, or lesson and is followed by an activity that helps the child remember what happened and think more deeply about its meaning.

The activities include a maze, a word search, a crossword, a scrambled-sentence puzzle, a secret-message puzzle, matching and sequencing activities, true-or-false questions, vocabulary work, drawing, writing, and personal reflection.

Children will learn about life in Makkah before the Hijrah, why the Muslims needed to leave, the careful preparations for the journey, the people who helped, the Cave of Thawr, the desert road, the arrival at Quba and Madinah, the Ansar and Muhajirun, and the building of a new Muslim community.

The book does not present the Hijrah simply as a collection of names and dates. It encourages children to consider the lessons within the story. What does it mean to trust Allah while still making a careful plan? How can friends support one another during difficult times? Why does courage sometimes mean leaving something familiar behind? What can we learn from the generosity of the Ansar and the sacrifices of the Muhajirun?

The Hijrah Activity Book can be used on its own, but it is also designed as a companion to The Hijrah: The Journey That Changed History. Parents or grandparents can read the main book aloud as a family, and teachers can read it with a class at school. Children can then return to the activity book to review the story, discuss its meaning, and complete the related pages.

This makes the book suitable for family learning, homeschooling, Islamic schools, weekend schools, classroom use, or independent study.

My hope is that children will not only learn what happened during the Hijrah, but will also begin to recognize the qualities that made the journey possible: faith, courage, wisdom, loyalty, patience, responsibility, and trust in Allah.

The Hijrah changed the course of history. Its lessons can still guide young hearts today.
